Beautiful Florida homes on Sarasota

If you crave the elegance and sophistication of the city but relish privacy and the solace of natural surroundings, Sarasota is calling to you.

Sarasota is rich with history. Before large numbers of European settlers arrived in the late 1840's, Native Americans inhabited the area, fishing, hunting, and gathering. The Spanish arrived in the 1500's but did not form permanent settlements. With the arrival of the Europeans, agriculture was promoted, primarily the growing of citrus, sugarcane, and vegetables. Some cattle and swine farms existed and, of course, commercial fishing took place.

Sarasota was incorporated as a city in 1913. Its residents prospered after WW I with a surge of jobs, successful investments, and the social grandeur of the very wealthy. The Ringling family, so instrumental in the development of the area, established their winter home here in the early 1900's. By 1919 Sarasota was the winter home of the Ringling Brothers Circus.

Today, Sarasota continues to offer all the finer things in life, with a terrific view! Expansive, white sand beaches, any kind of water sport, birding, nature trails, arts, theater, music, museums, casual and fine dining, and world class shopping is all yours! At the end of the day watch the golden-orange sun slip beneath the Bay.

Sarasota is also the home of the Florida West Coast Symphony, Sarasota Ballet, Sarasota Players, eight colleges, Sarasota-Bradenton Airport, and many historical sites. In addition, the Sarasota Music Festival and Sarasota Film Festival are annual events, attracting musicians and actors from all over the world. The Ed Smith Stadium is located here as well as the largest YMCA in Florida, home of the state swim title holders, the Sarasota Sharks. As if that's not enough, Sarasota is also a world class golfing destination and the site of the annual UPA ultimate frisbee national tournament!

Sarasota is a rich mix of historical homes, multi-million dollar estates, condominiums, waterfront and water view residences, and many styles of single family homes in all price ranges.
